General Maine Coon Information
The average female can grow to 10-15 pounds and the average male can grow to 15-25 pounds. The average life span of a Maine Coon cat is 10-15 years. Grooming is recommended at least once a week to prevent their coat from matting using a non-plastic comb or brush. A bamboo or metal comb/brush is recommended. However, due to their long hair, a daily brushing would be preferred. Cats generally do not need to be bathed, but if acclimated at a young age, you can train your Maine Coon to accept baths. Just do not bathe too often to prevent drying out their skin. Nail care consist of trimming or placing nail caps on their nails. Trimming should occur monthly and as needed. Nail caps need to be replaced every 4-6 weeks. Yes, if treated right by the children and animals, Maine Coons are gentle giants. Just like all cats, they do not enjoy being aggravated, having their tails pulled, being held down, etc., but if treated well, they love humans and other animals, including small children. Due to the many dangers and diseases that accompany being outdoors, we do not recommend your Maine Coon being allowed to roam freely outside. However, the occasional walk on a leash is acceptable and will be enjoyed by all. Just make sure they are vaccinated and not exposed to unknown animals while on your walk. Maine Coons come in over 80 color/pattern combinations including white, red, cream, black, blue, grey, brown, and orange. Popular fur patterns and color blends include solid, classic tabby, mackerel tabby, ticked tabby, torbie, tortoiseshell, shaded, smoke, and calicos; all of which can be with or without white.
Maine Coon cats are gentle giants, native to Maine, who were originally known as a farm or ship cat in earlier centuries. They are massively large cats with muscular bodies., long fluffy tails, and pointed ears with tuffs of hair on the end. They are long in length and can frequently reach the top of the countertop if they want to see what meal you’re fixing them. Many compare Maine Coons to smaller dogs since they enjoy a good walk, play fetch, and some even enjoy playing in water. They are highly intelligent and equally affectionate. They live 10-15 years and can grow up over 20 pounds in size. While they are a “huge” commitment (excuse the pun) the joy they will bring you is beyond measure. We would love to add one of our sweet babies to your family for you to love and enjoy for years to come.
Yes!! My cattery, cats, and kittens are all TICA registered. There will be a scheduled, agreed upon day and time for you to come pick up your kitten from our home. We are also willing to drive to meet you anywhere from our home or we do have flight nanny services available for an extra cost (this cost is set by an independent contractor). Your kitten will receive the first 2 FVRCP vaccines and rabies vaccine. In addition, they will be dewormed and given a good health check by our vet. Yes, our kittens come with a 2-year health guarantee from genetic defects. In addition, all of our breeding cats are DNA tested, for congenital diseases, HCM, PKDEF AND SMA. All kittens will come with a breeding contract that has been agreed upon and breeding fee paid. Should you pay the deposit and not be able to fulfill the agreement, you will have the opportunity to apply that deposit to a future kitten within 2 years of receipt of the deposit. There’s also a $250 discount to anyone who adopts more than one kitten at a time as it is better to adopt in pairs. Why Two Kittens Are Better Than One — Kitten Deposit can be by cash, zelle, venmo or cashapp. Balance is cash only please. Due to safety concerns and health reasons, I do not allow visitors to see the kittens prior to pick up day. My cattery is my personal home and is not open to the public, except during kitten pick up. I will provide weekly photos and videos. This is a major investment and I understand your fears more than anything. I, myself, have been scammed paying over $1000 for what was a domestic long hair cat. It’s heartbreaking and you feel so violated. I will do all I can to alleviate your worries. I am willing to talk on the phone or facetime with the kittens. I will show you multiple pictures with the same background (something you won’t see on a scammer’s page because their pictures come from various legit breeders’ pages thus, they’re all different.). Any other ways I can help, please let me know as I do not want this to be a nervous process for anyone. It should be exciting and magical, and I want you to feel confident in the process, the kitten and myself. Yes, we will sell breeding rights to established catteries. If you are new to breeding, I am willing to work with you if you are willing to go about things the right way and produce quality cats that adhere to TICA standards.
